Woman Dies and Ten Hospitalized After Eating Contaminated Momos in Telangana
Incident Sparks Investigation into Unlicensed Street Vendor
Telangana, India — A tragic incident unfolded last week in Hyderabad, where one woman has reportedly died and ten others have fallen ill after consuming momos from a roadside vendor. Police confirmed that the victims had purchased the snacks from the same vendor operating under the Banjara Hills police station limits, although they ate at different locations.
According to authorities, the woman’s family reported that she began feeling unwell shortly after consuming the momos and was later admitted to a hospital, where she sadly passed away. The body has since been interred, and an investigation is underway to determine the exact cause of her death.
The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) has taken swift action in response to the incident. Food safety officials, working alongside police, traced the vendor responsible for selling the contaminated momos. They discovered that the vendor was operating without a proper license, raising serious concerns about food safety standards.
“This is a deeply concerning situation, and we are committed to ensuring that all food vendors comply with health regulations to protect the public,” a GHMC spokesperson stated.
Authorities are urging the public to exercise caution when consuming street food and to report any vendors operating without licenses. Further updates on the investigation and health advisories will be provided as more information becomes available.
