Fake Ola Driver Attempts Assault, A woman narrowly escaped a harrowing situation at Kempegowda International Airport (BLR) when a fake Ola taxi driver, impersonating a legitimate ride-share driver at the Terminal 1 pickup station, attempted to assault her. The incident occurred late at night, when the victim, traveling alone, was approached by a man claiming to be her Ola ride.

The suspect, who gained access to the designated Ola pickup zone at the airport, allegedly had intentions beyond offering a simple ride. After a tense and dangerous interaction, the woman managed to call emergency services—dialing 112—while simultaneously staying on the phone with a male friend, who guided her through the ordeal.
“Had I not acted quickly and contacted 112, I don’t know what might have happened,” the victim shared. “It was a terrifying experience, and I’m thankful I was able to get away unharmed. But I’m also deeply disturbed by the fact that such incidents can happen in a place like an airport.”
Around 11:00 PM, after a tense few minutes in a remote area away from the airport, the woman managed to escape and was quickly attended to by the police who arrived on the scene in response to her distress call. Authorities are currently investigating the situation, working to identify the imposter and confirm whether he had any prior criminal intent or was merely seeking to extort additional money from the passenger.
While the investigation is ongoing, airport authorities have vowed to review and improve security measures in the passenger pickup areas to prevent such dangerous incidents in the future.
This event has raised serious concerns about safety protocols at major transportation hubs, highlighting the vulnerability of solo travelers—especially at night—and the need for better screening of ride-sharing drivers. Airport officials and Ola representatives are cooperating with the police to ensure that this kind of security lapse does not happen again.
The woman has since been offered counseling and support services. She also expressed her gratitude to the swift response of local authorities and her male friend, whose phone presence may have played a crucial role in preventing the worst.
Travelers are urged to always double-check ride-sharing information before getting into vehicles and to stay vigilant, especially during late-night or off-peak hours.
I wrote it all by myself, without informing my parents of the situation, with no female constable in the entire police station(later Airport authority, sent one female from airport on my demand), with barely any phone battery & just tears
