West Australian all-rounder Hilton Cartwright made headlines with a dramatic mid-innings exit during a Sheffield Shield match against Tasmania to support his wife for the unexpected birth of their second child. Cartwright, who was unbeaten on 52*, received a call during the tea break on Day 2, informing him that his wife, Tameka, had gone into induced labor due to complications. At 37 weeks pregnant, Tameka was advised by her obstetrician to proceed with an early delivery that afternoon. Without hesitation, Cartwright left the field to be by her side.
